Interprofessional collaboration (IPC) is the process by which different health and social care professional groups work together to positively impact care. IPC involves regular negotiation and interaction between professionals, which values the expertise and contributions that various healthcare professionals bring to patient care (Reeves et al., 2017). To ensure that future health care professionals are prepared to provide Interprofessional education (IPE) is needed to deliver holistic, patient-centered prevention programs, in a collaborative manner. (Felgoise et al., 2019). Healthcare outcomes can be directly affected if poor IPC is practiced (Reeves et al., 2017). Interventions that address IPC problems have the potential to improve professional practice and healthcare (Dahlke et al., 2020). Hospice care and patients with Cancer diagnosis have complicated care plans and use of interprofessional collaboration is required to meet their needs. There are challenges with professionals differing routines, knowledge, and identities to overcome, time constraints and professional hierarchies also can cause conflicts (Dahlke et al., 2020). Studies show that implementing interprofessional education (IPE) earlier in health care curriculums can positively influence students’ perception of teamwork (Bosch et al., 2015). The academic curriculum for all nursing programs may need to revise their teaching plans to include an intense module on collaboration to ensure nurses develop their team skills.
